Supporting the wider environment
Beacon Press has always sought to play as wide a role
as possible in the protection of the environment beyond
its own domestic and commercial area of operations.
In many cases, the company is prepared to invest
time, money and enthusiasm in actively supporting
and sponsoring external initiatives as part of its wider
programme of corporate responsibility. In this way
we can play our part on both the local and global
environmental stages.
Community
We have developed a biodiversity policy to enhance
the wildlife potential of our factory grounds which
are managed in order to preserve and protect
biodiversity on the site.
Speakers are provided to present our experience
to local and national business organisations.
Our ‘Box it, don’t Bin it’ campaign - a free CD
recycling scheme for our customers
and local businesses - has redirected over 12
tonnes of unwanted CDs away from landfill sites
and into recycling plants.
Leadership
We continue to support the work of many specialist
organisations campaigning on behalf of the
environment, including Forum for the Future,
WWF FTN Group, Business in the Community
and London Remade.
We promote ourselves as a source of information
for our customers about the production of
sustainable printing, hosting technical seminars
at our premises.
We also seek to involve those not directly
concerned with printing. For example, politicians,
local authorities, environmental organisations and
the media are all seen as stakeholders (and potential
participants) with whom we want to share our
experience and from whom we welcome response.
